Renovation of Kerhonkson Pool a Success
Recently, there was a renovation project that took place at the Kerhonkson Pool. The project was initiated by myself and a group of parents from the Barracuda's swim team. Some of the repairs and work that was completed were
- New roofs on all buildings
- Vinyl Siding
- Painted all buildings
- Painted bathroom floors
- New drainage
- Concrete pad
- Rebuilt pool pump and motor
- New fence and gates
- New picnic table
- Bird houses built by the Rondout 5th Grade Environmental Club
However, none of these repairs or improvements would have been possible without the support and donations of many volunteers, businesses, and contractors. I want to thank them all for their support and commitment in making this project a success, so this long time fixture in our community can be enjoyed by all.

Thanks To All For The New Resnick Airport Building
I would like to thank everyone that attended the Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for our newest building at the Joseph Y. Resnick Airport on Sunday, June 27th. Denise Younger's rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" was an absolutely wonderful start for the event.
It took the work of three very different administrations, starting with Supervisor James Dolaway, Supervisor Ed Jennings, and current Supervisor Leonard Distel to get this project funded and completed entirely with grant money. I would like to personally thank all of the members of the previous administrations that worked so hard to get this building finished on time.
The new Sheriff's Substation will truly be an asset here, as Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum explained in his address to the crowd that a large percentage of calls to his department now come from the Southeastern corner of the County.
The new Pilot's Lounge will be equipped so that visiting aviators will be able to plan the next leg of their flight with the most current weather and navigational data.
Local artist Roger Baker did his usual magnificent job with the signs he created for the two separate parts of the building. Thank you Roger! While I'm thanking folks allow me to publicly thank the owners of the following local businesses that donated generously to provide refreshments for the event. Cohen's Bakery, Peters' Market, Dunkin' Donuts, Shot Rite, McDonald's, Ellenville Beverage, Wilson's Market, Orlando's Market, Barthel's Farm Market and James' General Store. Without their assistance we would have been lost. Remember folks, support local businesses and shop locally!
I would be remiss if I didn't thank Dick Constant for his help in getting all of the chairs and tables hauled to the building on Saturday. Invaluable assistance was also given by Al Perry who not only got everything set up on Sunday morning, but also designed a way to cover and unveil the new signs at the appropriate moment. Al also helped with the cleanup after the event, so thank you so much! Cathie Paone and all of the staff at Town Hall have worked tirelessly on this project from day one, thank you all.
Finally I come to a lady without whose assistance, from beginning to end, the new building, the ceremony itself, and all of the refreshments would not have materialized. Mrs. Berdella Smith was instrumental in working with the grant writers, the engineers, the construction crews, the plans for the ceremony itself and even organizing the refreshments. It would take several pages to describe to you all the work that Berdella has done to get this building finished on time and on budget. Instead I will close by simply saying, my hat is off to you Berdella, the entire Town owes you its thanks and I am honored to have you as a co-worker, neighbor and friend.
I'm certain to have forgotten to thank someone who has also worked very hard on this project, and if so I do apologize.
